Why we exist

News moves fast, and much of it is repeated, rushed or stripped of context. We try to slow it down just enough to get it right. Each article starts with the essentials and then adds the background a reader needs to form their own view.

We do not chase every update. We pick the developments that matter and stay with them, returning to a story when there is something new to say rather than when it is simply trending.

Coverage

These are the subjects our newsroom follows day to day.

The team

Our reporters specialise in the areas they cover, which lets them follow a story over weeks and months rather than a single news cycle.

  • Dana Whitfield

    Trends and analysis editor

Covers long-running shifts rather than single events: what a week of headlines adds up to, and which of them turn out to matter. Writes the analysis desk.

  • Marcus Feld

    Politics and elections reporter

Follows campaigns, court rulings and voting rules, with an eye on the procedural detail that decides outcomes. Reads filings so readers do not have to.

  • Nic Reeve

    Technology and AI correspondent

Writes on artificial intelligence, platforms and the companies building them. Interested in what shipped, what it costs and who is affected.

  • Priya Raman

    Business and reputation reporter

Covers corporate decisions, earnings and the reputational fallout that follows them. Looks for the number behind the statement.

  • Owen Castellano

Editorial standards

Accuracy first

Every claim in an article should hold up. We trace numbers and quotes back to where they first appeared, and if we cannot confirm something, we say so.

Where our information comes from

We rely on official documents, public data, statements on the record and reporting from established outlets. When a fact comes from a specific source, we name it or link to it.

Editorial independence

Coverage decisions are made by our editors. Advertisers and partners have no say in what we publish or how we report it.

Corrections

If a published article contains an error, we fix it openly rather than quietly. Material corrections are acknowledged in the article itself.
